Battlefield 6 Players Are Convinced: Challenges Are Excessively Difficult

The launch of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 was met with broad praise, notably for its top-tier multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, concurrent player counts surged to nearly 750,000. However, despite its popularity, a growing number of players are expressing frustration over several of the title's most difficult challenges, which are mandatory to unlock specific weapons.

Users have commenced resorting to custom matches created through the custom game tool to complete them, highlighting just how demanding these missions have become.

Grasping BF6 Objectives

Tasks represent Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, different from the periodically changed daily and weekly challenges. There are four types of assignments, but while the majority simply offer outfits and select equipment, finishing the gun missions is the exclusive means of acquiring a dozen out of forty-one primary weapons available in the game.

Some of these restricted firearms may soon make their appearance on rosters of the finest arms in Battlefield 6.

Player Outcry via Reddit

Within Reddit, players are understandably sharing their frustrations about how difficult and grindy some of these challenges are. A particular gamer emphasized one of the most extreme examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Subdue 300 opponents with LMGs
  • Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs

"This challenge is so atrocious and entirely ill-conceived, I want to scream in frustration," is a comment that illustrates just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.

Suppression in Battlefield is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many advantages in battle as it had in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.

Meanwhile, using an LMG from the hip is wildly inaccurate and is effective only at very short distances, which isn't typically where you aim to be. The commenter also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that task would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and conversely.

Another Ridiculously Tough Task

Another Reddit user brought attention to a further incredibly demanding challenge, within the long-range weapon type to obtain the PSR:

  • Achieve 150 headshot eliminations from more than 200 meters away with sniper rifles

This is tough enough on its own, but there's one more key thing to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps don't even support combat at such a long range.

There exists a reasonable assortment of map sizes, but because there are just nine levels in the game right now, it restricts you to playing one of the larger locales, another expansive area, and perhaps Operation Firestorm if you're lucky if you plan to engage from afar from over 200m away.

The Bypass

Nevertheless, a method exists: the portal. The custom game creator is a tool that allows you to create personalized matches on any map you prefer, complete with bots. This implies you can exploit the mechanics… but it doesn't exactly feel like the spirit of the game.

But when tackling the tasks in a standard match seems counterproductive, since you must engage in such an unorthodox manner that doesn't benefit you or your team, who can blame someone for finishing these in a personal session so squad members are not disadvantaged?

Potential Changes

It should not be shocking if several of these tasks are adjusted to be less difficult in the next few updates, because if they're not, certain gamers simply won't get their hands on the locked firearms.

For now, the community continues to share their thoughts on these challenging in-game tasks, hoping for a fairer player experience in future updates.
