Patson Daka Grabs Stoppage-Time Equaliser for Zambia Versus Mali at the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Leicester City forward brought to a close a 20-month goal barren run for Zambia with his late header in Morocco.
Patson Daka was the the hero for Chipolopolo as his dying-moments header earned a dramatic 1-1 tie against Mali at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Mali Takes Early Control
The Malian attacker had put Mali ahead around the hour mark in the Group A fixture at the Stade Mohammed V, drilling home from point-blank range after his first effort from a corner kick had been parried.
The Eagles dominated possession and were awarded an opportunity to go in front in the closing stages of the opening period after Nene Dorgeles was fouled in the box by Zambian defender Matthews Banda.
El Bilal Toure took responsibility for the Eagles but his well-hit shot was superbly saved by Zambia goalkeeper Willard Mwanza.
Daka's Dramatic Intervention
Daka eventually rescued a draw for the 2012 Afcon winners, who were largely overwhelmed by the physical dominance of the Malians until the defender's delivery into the box was powered home by the attacker.
Group A Table
This draw leaves both sides a couple of points behind host nation Morocco in the Group A table after Morocco claimed victory in their first match 2-0 against the Coelacanths on Sunday.
Zambia will remain in the city to face their next game against their next opponents on Friday, while The Eagles journey to the capital for a pivotal match against the host nation.
