The Opening Xbox Game Pass Games of 2026 Demonstrate Xbox Remains Committed.

Across the gaming landscape, commentators persist in tolling the funeral bells for Microsoft's gaming division. Xbox was recently outsold by a platform few have heard of. Xbox fan sites have started writing about PlayStation unprecedentedly. 2025 was a period of total upheaval for the tech giant's gaming arm. But if we're going solely off the titles headed to the service in 2026, it's evident that Xbox still intends to attract subscribers with quality releases on its key platform.

The Available Now Titles

The two games that are immediately available as you read this, Brews & Bastards and Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition, aren't the showstoppers. Rather, it's what is coming to Game Pass in the coming weeks that's deserving of attention.

Major Titles on the Horizon

Come mid-January, Game Pass will add the underappreciated Star Wars Outlaws, an open-world game that breaks up conventional open-world tropes with a space-faring criminal escapade. Another big get is Resident Evil Village featuring the towering Lady Dimitrescu, previously described as "an ideal blend of terror and combat."

Compelling Indie Titles

However, the more modest titles arriving shortly on the service are noteworthy here. Lost In Random: The Eternal Die, a fantastic but under-the-radar dungeon crawler that's a blast to play, arrives January 7th — and it's worth experiencing whether or not you experienced the first Lost in Random game.

The game set in a ruined Britain from last year could captivate you in about 15 minutes flat.

Atomfall, a survival title with stealth elements by the makers of Sniper Elite, is another one to watch. Those with the top-tier subscription also have Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine – Master Crafted Edition to look forward to.

A Well-Rounded Collection

All in all, this isn't a revolutionary update to Game Pass, and they don't represent tentpole Microsoft studios games that validate the subscription alone. But Microsoft's additions here are very dependable. There's a good mixture of old games you might have missed and relatively recent releases that lacked the recognition they deserved the first time around — transforming them into ideal prospects to find a new audience on Game Pass.

You might need to brace yourself to bid farewell to The Grinch Christmas Adventures, though.
